I have been browsing through some amazing images on Instagram, especially some from National Geographic. What I have noticed was most captions included the hashtag #OnAssignment and the thought that passed through my mind has been "wow, thats exciting". Now I haven't been assigned a story in a while, but I do have assignments for myself. These are #MyAssignments: Project Afterdark is broken down into two parts, Part I - Lights in Motion & Part II - City of Lights. Lights in Motion is a take from Newtons first law of motion. I will spare you the science and break it down into what it represents for my photographs. The objects in motion will continue and the objects that are stationary will stay stationary. Basically the cars and people will appear as streaks of light and motion blurs and the buildings will stay.

Part II - City of Lights, is basically the title of the project. My main aim is to document the cities I travel to or where I live in the most appealing way possible and to me its the way the cities look at night. If anyone has driven past a downtown during the day, you would notice its all steel and glass, but at night is when it comes to life. Showing you an inside look at what happens within those steel and glass covered buildings. The street lights illuminate the dark asphalt roads, and the people leaving these buildings are in transit. Most of these images would be a long exposure, in order to show you how I see the city.

There is no limit on how far I can take to make the images, I have also experimented with some in camera functions that help me produce some amazing abstracts. The only restriction I have put on myself for this project is: if the image is edited beyond simple contrast and exposure outside of my camera in any other software such as Adobe Lightroom, or Adobe Photoshop, then the image doesn't qualify to be included into the project. I prefer not to edit any images at all, but sometimes the correction of contrast or exposure is needed.

I hope you enjoyed the insight into my projects, you can find some of the work in the project gallery.
