Day One - Where to get blown in Sint Maarten
Day Two - Chasing Planes
Day Three - The "three hour tour"
Day Four - Two best wide angle views
Day Five - The final day in a weeklong competition
to find the best aircraft photo for Sint Maarten or was it the best view of aircraft landing, no wait it was the Theme "Sint Maarten, Aircraft Spotters Paradise" one in a multitude of other changes during the competition. Sure I can complain on how the judges and the organizer knew half the contestants, or how some info was provided at first then changed and possible how impossible it was to find the organizer during the event. But I won't (or I did).
Either way it was a journey, a learning experience and a lesson in keeping on top of the competition during changing situations. Situation awareness if you may.
In the top links you can read about my Sint Maarten experience and you can decide what may have been the best photo for this context. Unfortunately I was not the winner, but I still enjoyed every moment I had traveling, photographing, exploring, and encountering different people from a small island in the Caribbean split in half by two countries, one French and the other Dutch.
Here are my three submission to the contest.
I'm happy for the winner but shocked for the image selected. A "Marvelous shot" by the judges and airport officials for the contest. The winner for the first annual Toppix Aviation Photo Contest was Bernie Verhoeven.
I missed out on the Toppix 2014 comp but as some would guess it - Bernie Verhoeven was also the winner due to another photographer not showing up to claim their $2,500 prize...Interesting...
All I can do now is laugh and learn. Until the next showdown!
